Why The DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced is Now the Go To

Over the past year or two, emergency services across Australia have introduced the Mavic 2 Enterprise into their RPAS fleet and have found great success deploying the drones into their missions. One of the common complaints about the Dual has been the low resolution and frame-rate but gave the pilots a clear indication of thermal signatures. The biggest praise was the size and convenience where it was a lot faster to set-up and get  the Mavic 2 into the air compared to the Matrice 300 RTK

What's New?

With the latest update, the advanced upgrades its thermal camera to a 640 x 512 px sensor (huge upgrade from the 160 x 120px sensor). This means the effective pixels on the thermal camera have increased 17x compared to the Dual, which allows the thermal camera to zoom up to 16x, which is something the dual could not do at all.

What has got most pilots excited is the upgrade to a 30hz frame rate (giant step up from the 9hz on the Dual), which is significantly smoother than the dual. This has significantly increased the capability for night ops and has given pilots a boost in confidence.

The advanced has swapped the 12MP RBG Sensor for the 48MP Sensor that was found on the Mavic Air 2. With the upgraded sensors, you will receive a 32x digital zoom, perfect for getting the minute details. Which the pilots didn't require the 32x digital zoom, the 4x lossless zoom is a much welcomed addition.

Industry Thoughts After Testing

The Chief pilots of each organisation have praised the Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced increased capabilities highlighting the upgraded camera specs that enable a more confident search. It has performed so well in the testing that now the Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced has replaced the previous Zoom and Dual. This has cemented the M2EA as part of their RPA fleet, which includes the DJI M300 RTK and the older Matrice 210 V2 RTK.

The M2EA thermal imaging camera has been dubbed a "Mini XT2" due to its imaging capabilities which is in fact true. The thermal resolution places it on par with the H20T, XT2, which are all payloads for larger industrial drones such as the Matrice 300 RTK

Testimonials

"With the increased resolution, it's now really quick and easy to distinguish objects/people during missions, especially at night where the Dual was just not up for the task. The Dual would show a blob, what is a person? what is something burning? This mean that man power on the ground was still required to check or we had to resort to the M300, which just took too long during time sensitive missions.  Now this is all we need for those missions".

"Because of the size and weight of the Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced, we've introduced the M2EA into our mobile response unit which gives us eyes on the scene as soon as possible. This is followed up by our larger aircraft who will capture more in-depth data and analysis."
