Places To Visit In New South Wales This Spring

Spring is one of the most beautiful times during the year to be out of the home. If you’re unsure of what to do this year round, sit back as we fill up your timeline with events to keep you busy until summer.

Floral Festivals

New South Wales is home to a series of wonderful floral festivals located all around the state. To not go overboard we’ll have a look at three of the best floral festivals this state has got to offer.

Going in chronological order, one of the first festivals to occur this spring is the Tulip Time Festival in the Corbett Garden, Bowral. Running from the 16th of September to the 3rd of October, for these 2 weeks you get the chance to admire the extensive range of 75,000 tulip displays during the day, or if you can’t make it, experience the new Tulips After Dark event. Indulge in the art, culture, music and more while having a drink at one of their local bars during this evening event.

If you're passing by or not too far away from the state of ACT, you might as well visit the Floriade Festival held in Commonwealth Park, Canberra. This celebration of spring runs from the 17th of September to the 16th of October and features cultural celebrations, food, entertainment and exhibitions alongside the colourful display of 1 million blooms across 8,000 sq meters . At night you can also experience the Floriade NightFest where the beds of flowers are transformed with gorgeous light installations.

Finally towards the last month of Spring, we have the Grafton Jacaranda Festival held in Grafton city. From the 28th of October to the 6th of November you can walk under canopies of purple flowers that fill the roads of this city every season. Immerse yourself in various activities run throughout this festival such as fun runs, colour runs, balls and more or take the little ones to their own children's party hosted by Bendigo Bank. There's something available for everyone, so definitely include this in your Spring plans.

Blue Mountains

Other than going to see the floral festivals according to their open dates, make your own plans and head out to the blue mountains to explore the diverse landscapes of the region. With so many activities to offer in the area there's no better time to go than when the weather begins to warm up. Abseil, rock climb, bushwalk or explore some of the region's own gardens like the Leura Garden and Mount Wilsons Spring Garden.

The Blue Mountains are also known for Scenic World. Here you can decide out of four different ways, how you’d like to explore the area. There's the scenic railway being the steepest railway in the world, the cableway also holding the title of the steepest aerial cable car in the world, the cableway and the walkway that all offer unique adventures of their own.

Sydney CBD

Within the city of Sydney there are also heaps of activities to undertake this spring. Sydney is home to many attraction sites such as the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. Here capture your moments with the backdrop of the iconic sites or even climb your way to the top of the bridge if you're not one to admire from afar.

If you're along the coast, the start of the southern whale migration this season makes it the best time in the year to go whale watching. Whale watchers have the best chance to spot them due to them naturally swimming closer to the water's surface to enable their calves to keep up. There's plenty of watching tours along the coast during this peak season, so never worry about missing your chance to see these marvellous water mammals.

Speaking of coasts, Bondi beach is another great destination during spring. Usually known for its surf waves and golden sand, if it's still too cold for a swim, explore the Sculpture By The Sea exhibition instead. This free for all annual event is the largest public sculpture exhibition running from the 21st of October to the 7th of November featuring the transformation of the coastal walk from Bondi to Tamarama with unique and creative installations designed by various artists.

There's so much to do, so much to capture no matter where you go in NSW this spring. So remember to pack your recording equipment and make some memorable experiences this springtime.
